Clarets Trust is delighted to announce that following the AGM, Simon Kenyon (above) has been co-opted onto the Clarets Trust Board. Simon has written a little bit about himself which you can read below and we will shortly be adding his photo and profile to ourTrust Who's Who section of the website.
Simon (right) pictured with Grezza My name is Simon Kenyon and I have been a supporter of Burnley FC for the last 30 years. I have a season ticket with my daughter in the Jimmy Mc Upper Stand. I have also followed the Clarets around the country when work and family commitments have allowed. Although I now work in a Social Care role, I have spent many years working in a Sports Development role, and now have a Degree in the subject. I was also an active member of a team who organised and delivered sport sessions to members of deprived communities throughout East Lancashire. At the same time, I was working, voluntarily, as the Development Officer for a local amateur football club, assisting in attracting new members and helping the club to grow. While studying for my Degree, I undertook research into access issues to sport and leisure activities and facilities for people with disabilities. At the completion of this research, I produced a report for Rochdale Sport and Leisure Forum, which helped their bid for a Disability Sport Development Officer post. I was also the student rep, who liaised between students and the course leaders, to monitor best practice. I also have experience of setting up a supporters club, namely Cumbria Clarets, where around 10 fellow Claret supporters met regularly for a short time. I believe the Trust is a vital cog in the workings of the football club, as it gives the supporters perspective on many issues and I hope to help develop the trust further, for the benefit of all supporters, and I am hoping to play my part after being co-opted to the Trust Board.
